Parents lost everything during WWII. Lower Neiderschasser, more Polish
part of Germany. Irene came in US in 1954. Was sponsored by mothers 1/2
brother and wife who lived in Cleveland, OH.
Irene worked for a sweater company (Excelor Sweater Company) as a looper,
doing the looping around the sleeves of sweaters, piece work.
Worked for a bit in Califonia at Kitchenmaid Company first made the
garbage disposals then moved up to testing the garbage disposals. The
company went bankrupt because the owner had two wives and many children.
She then stayed home working at home and with the apartment building.
After WWII Irene had been staying with an Aunt who had no children and
wanted to adopt her, but her father said no and came and got her. Her
mother, brother and sister were together during the war. Lower
