Four Generations
of Roolfs & Ostiens
We were amazed how many different people from around the
country at the 1997 Ostien Family Reunion had pictures of
the same woman. Mary (Kunigunda) Ostien was featured in
many, many pictures from the 1910s and 1920s. She passed
away in 1923.
In the four-generation picture below she's with her daughter
Margaret Mary and her son-in-law John A. Roolf; her
grandson Joseph C. Roolf's wife Lenora (nee Witt, standing);
and two of her great-grandchildren, Lenora's children Norman Roolf
and Dorothy Marie Roolf (sitting on Margaret's lap).
This picture appears to have been taken from the back yard
of John A. Roolf's house on Highland Avenue in Turtle Creek, PA.
It was taken circa 1922-1923.
