John A. Roolf's Passing

Well known in Turtle Creek and in Pittsburgh for his role playing Santa Claus in downtown department stores and to children in Turtle Creek, John Roolf passed away on 12 Mar 1951. He was born and raised in Pittsburgh, and took his father Joseph's profession as a saddle and harness maker.

This article was probably in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 15 Mar 1951. We don't yet have a copy of the rest of the article. John A. Roolf was buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Pittsburgh. He and his wife Margaret Mary Ostien raised four children together.
